Terry D. Horner

Appellate attorney Terry D. Horner graduated from New York University with a B.A. in history, and continued his education at Brooklyn Law School, where he earned his J.D. in 1981.

Terry started his legal career at a well-respected appellate firm in New York City, handling medical and dental malpractice, general liability, personal injury, and insurance coverage litigation, focusing on motions and appeals.  After relocating to the Hudson Valley in the 1980s, Terry continued his appellate and motion work in medical and dental malpractice defense, and was later the chief appellate attorney for the Dutchess County Public Defender.

Terry has handled more than 160 appeals and hundreds of motions at all levels of the New York State court system, and is admitted to practice in New York and the Southern, Eastern, and Western district federal courts.

Terry and his wife, a physician assistant in family practice, are long-time residents of the City of Poughkeepsie, where he has been a member of the Historic District & Landmark Preservation Commission and continues the restoration of their Victorian house. Their two grown sons live in New England, and their daughter just graduated from college. A music lover, Terry is the board President of the Stringendo Orchestra School of the Hudson Valley, and two-time past President of Mid-Hudson Camerata Chorale.
