Hudson Valley Hospice House Honored in “Today” Show Tribute Spotlighting Compassionate End-of-Life Care

February 6, 2026

Hudson Valley Hospice House Honored in “Today

Hudson Valley Hospice House was recently recognized on the “Today” show in a deeply moving segment led by co-host Sheinelle Jones, who paid tribute to the nurses and caregivers who supported her late husband, Uche Ojeh, during his time in hospice care.

In the segment, Jones shared how the care team at Hudson Valley Hospice House not only ensured her husband’s comfort, but also provided unwavering emotional support to her and her family during one of the most difficult periods of their lives. “The only reason I even have the strength to talk about it is because I believe that they’re our heroes,” Jones said. “They deserve all the love and attention we can give them.”

The segment culminated in a surprise honoring members of the care team, including Chanel Duff, Denise James Wright, Nykyra Owens, Jazzie Stickle and Jessica Goldstein, whose compassion and professionalism exemplified the mission of hospice care.

Jones shared: “I remember when I first walked into Hudson Valley Hospice, they said, ‘You’re not here to die — you’re here to live, and we’re going to give you the best days you have left. We’re going to make them the best days.’”

Jeffrey M. Feldman, founder of Feldman, Kleidman, Collins & Sappe LLP (FKC&S) and chairperson of  Hudson Valley Hospice’s board of directors, praised the recognition and emphasized that the care highlighted on the “Today” show reflects the organization’s everyday commitment to patients and families.

“On behalf of the board of directors, we are incredibly proud of Chanel, Denise, Nykyra, Jazzie and Jessica, and of the entire team they represent,” Feldman said. “Hospice care truly depends on exceptional teamwork — from our CEO and executive team to our caregivers, support staff and those who keep our facilities running seamlessly.”

Feldman noted that the team’s actions were not extraordinary because of who the family was, but because this level of care is the standard at Hudson Valley Hospice.

“They provided incredible service to a family in need not because of who they were, but because that is what we collectively do for all of our patients,” he said. “By sharing their story, they’ve brought positive light not only to our Hospice House, but to hospice care in general. We hope this awareness encourages more people to seek out hospice services and the true professionals who provide comfort when it is most needed.”

During their interviews, the caregivers emphasized that this compassionate approach is central to their work — a reminder that hospice care is often misunderstood.

“Hospice is not about dying,” Feldman added. “It’s about making the most of what is left.”

Hudson Valley Hospice remains dedicated to providing comfort, dignity and support to patients and families throughout the region, ensuring that no one faces the end of life alone.
