At Feldman, Kleidman, Collins & Sappe LLP (FKC&S), we believe that being part of a community means showing up in ways that matter in and outside of the courtroom. Giving back is an essential part of who we are. Whether through charitable donations, volunteer efforts or supporting local organizations, we remain committed to initiatives that make a lasting difference close to home.
Recently, our firm was proud to support the Rotary Club of Fishkill in helping to fund the dedication ceremony for the first and only United States Flag receptacle in Fishkill. Nearly 150 residents, local leaders and veterans united outside of McHoul Funeral Home for the unveiling on November 11, 2025. As a neighboring business, supporting the Veteran’s Day ceremony was especially meaningful to our team at FKC&S.
The U.S. Flag Code states that when a flag is no longer fit for display, it should be retired in a dignified manner, traditionally by burning. Yet many residents are unaware of the proper process, including where to go for assistance.
This new receptacle provides an accessible solution right in the heart of our village, ensuring that worn or damaged American flags can be retired with the respect they deserve. We are deeply grateful for the leadership and compassion of the Rotary Club of Fishkill and McHoul Funeral Home for bringing this project to life.
Fishkill Rotary Vice President Eddie Colon shared that flags placed into the box will be burned in a dignified manner at a ceremony on Flag Day, June 14, and their brass grommets will be polished and presented to local veterans as tokens of remembrance. Flag donors will also have the opportunity to fill out dedication cards in honor of their loved ones.
The flag repository can be found at McHoul Funeral Home, located at 1089 Main St. in the Village of Fishkill, NY.
